Returns & Care

Made to be loved. Not returned.

Every Headcase is a little different. Most pieces are one-of-a-kind, carefully made by hand and designed to be worn, enjoyed and hopefully become the hat you reach for whenever there’s a good excuse to dress up.

Because of the unique and special nature of our pieces, we don’t accept returns or exchanges simply because you’ve changed your mind or the piece isn’t quite what you imagined. We do, however, want you to love the way your Headcase fits.

The perfect fit

A good hat should feel like it belongs on your head. If you’re unsure about fit before purchasing, please get in touch. Where possible, modifications can be made on request to achieve the perfect fit for you and your head.

For this reason, we encourage you to contact us before purchasing if you have any questions about sizing, fit or how a particular piece sits. We’re very happy to help you choose the right Headcase.

A little care goes a long way

Millinery is wearable art — and like any beautiful thing, your Headcase needs a little looking after. Please treat your hat with care and keep it away from rain, moisture, excessive heat and anything else likely to damage its shape or materials.

When you’re not wearing it, store it somewhere dry and protected, ideally in a suitable hat box or other storage that won’t squash or distort its shape.

Please also take care when putting your hat on, taking it off and transporting it. Feathers, veiling, trims and other delicate details are there to make a statement — they’re not particularly fond of being squashed into a handbag or caught in a downpour.

Damage caused by accidents, misuse, improper handling, unsuitable storage or exposure to rain or moisture is not considered a fault with the hat and is not eligible for a refund or replacement.

If your Headcase needs a little love after an outing, please get in touch. Depending on the piece and the issue, we may be able to offer a repair or restoration service.

What if something isn’t right?

We carefully check every piece before it leaves the Headcase studio. If your hat arrives damaged, has a manufacturing fault, or isn’t as described, please contact us as soon as possible with your order details and photographs of the issue.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by this policy. Where a product does not meet the consumer guarantees that apply to it, we will work with you to provide the appropriate remedy.

Still unsure?

Buying a statement hat online is a little more exciting than buying socks online — we get it. If you’re unsure about fit, colour, materials or whether a particular Headcase is right for you, please get in touch before purchasing. We’re always happy to help.
